:My kids were misdiagnosed with a couple of different diseases before a doctor finally heard me and tested them for whooping cough. They are fully vaccinated and they had whooping coughing. Our pediatrician, and eventually the ER, didn't listen to my fear even though they exibited classic symptoms, because they were under the false impression that if you are vaccinated, you cannot catch whoopong cough. It took taking them to a pulmonologist, to treat them for asthma (that they do not have) to finally get an answer.
It's sometimes known at the '100 days cough,' for the length of time symptoms can be present. We are now about 4 months out and headed into cold and flu season. They still have bouts of paroxysmal coughing and their pulmonologist says they are likely at a higher risk to becoming sick this winter.
Here is a video of my son's cough. Hoping it can help someone else to get the correct diagnosis for their child, and spare them the sleepless nights of worry that we endured. -----
